After a two-year hiatus, CESIPC made a powerful return to Automation Expo Malaysia in May 2025, formally launching a new generation of industrial computer design philosophy. Our latest innovation — the "building-block modular design" — became an immediate focal point of the show, drawing wide acclaim from automation professionals across the region.
What is "Building-Block Modular Design"?
Once a conventional Industrial PC is finalized, any change — a CPU generation refresh, a new I/O interface requirement, or a thermal redesign — requires re-engineering the whole system, with R&D cycles of 3–6 months. CESIPC's in-house FlexCore™ modular mainboard architecture splits the IPC mainboard into three standardized modules:
- i-Core Computing Board — compute core (CPU + memory + storage + base I/O)
- i-Function Expansion Board — functional add-ons (COM, DIO, CAN, RFID, etc., configured to project needs)
- i-Connect I/O Board — interface orchestration (flexible multi-GbE / USB / HDMI combinations)
- All three boards connect through standardized connectors — any combination within the same enclosure footprint = unlimited product variants
Real Customer Benefits
60% shorter R&D cycle: CPU upgrades only require swapping the i-Core — chassis, power and I/O are all retained · 70% lower validation cost: independently validated expansion boards are reusable · 7–10 years of long-term supply: once the customer freezes the platform, mainboards can be swapped on demand without affecting the enclosure or software · 5× faster OEM adaptation: project-level customization only requires changing the i-Function board.
A representative from a Kuala Lumpur equipment OEM commented at the booth: "This is the design philosophy we've been waiting 10 years for. Finally an Industrial PC vendor has turned 'modular' from a marketing slogan into a real, deployable product."
Throughout the show CESIPC welcomed visitors from across Southeast Asia — including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Several system integrators signed letters of intent on the spot, and over the next six months we will jointly drive multiple projects to deployment. We invite Southeast Asia customers to keep in touch — see you at the next Southeast Asia exhibition!
